Why We Don't Rank: The Elite Orange OH Cluster

Why We Don't Rank: The Elite Orange OH Cluster

Unlike the libero cluster, where the margins are razor thin, the outside hitter group is clustered for a different reason.

These 2028 outsides don’t all look the same. They don’t all have the same size. They don’t all play six rotations. Their games are built differently. Some separate with physical tools, some with IQ and efficiency, some with motor and scoring consistency.

But in our evaluations, they currently sit in the same band.

That’s what makes this weekend interesting.

At outside hitter, moving from Elite Orange to Red isn’t just about being steady. It’s about impact. Can you terminate against high-level blocks? Can you pass well enough to stay on the floor when teams are targeting you? Can you take over a set when your team needs points?

Triple Crown gives this cluster the same opportunity, but not the same path.

Here are the six outsides (with a profile) with a chance to separate.

Reese Moriarty – Houston Jrs - TX

Already featured in our 10 Players to Watch this weekend, Moriarty has been one of the steadiest risers in the class. She brings balance — solid serve receive, smart shot selection, and the ability to score in-system. The question this weekend isn’t whether she belongs in the cluster — it’s whether she can dominate within it. Competing in Power Pool C gives her the stage to separate.

Camryn Corso – TAV - TX

A strong six-rotation OH with a reliable platform, Corso checks a lot of boxes evaluators value at the next level. She scores efficiently and passes well enough to stay on the floor full-time. Playing up on TAV 17 Black Haroun in Pool O raises the difficulty level immediately — and that’s exactly the kind of environment where Red-level separation can happen.

Madison Jinks – Houston Skyline - TX

One of the more versatile pins in this group. Jinks passes extremely well and plays with touch and control in the back row. A strong athlete with a 120” touch, she brings physical tools that translate. We’re very interested to see which schools are out tracking her this weekend. Competing in Blue Hawk Pool O, she’ll need to lead Skyline’s push toward the KCCC to elevate her stock.

Quinn Cassel – Alliance - TN

Cassel brings some of the most infectious energy in the cluster. She’s been a consistent scorer this season, but to push toward Red, this weekend will require dominance — not just steadiness. Alliance will battle in Blue Hawk looking to move into the KCCC, and Quinn’s ability to elevate her offensive impact against top-tier teams could be a key separator.

Katie McGough – Dallas Skyline - TX

A high-IQ outside with size, athleticism, and creativity. McGough doesn’t just swing — she attacks with intent. She uses the block well, sees the court, and brings strong ball control in both serve receive and defense. She profiles as a legitimate L2 prospect. Competing in Power Pool A, she’ll be tested early and often against elite competition.

Claire Bolton – Alamo - TX

An aggressive attacker with the ability to hit sharp angles and score in transition. Bolton’s arm is quick through the zone with real power, and she has the athleticism to be a primary offensive option. Her continued improvement in serve receive will be key to separation. With Alamo competing in Power Pool A, she’ll have plenty of opportunities to prove she can score against top-level blocks.
