Hope and Grace Hengler might not measure the tallest at a volleyball combine or look the most intimidating at a volleyball tournament. Still, when I saw them at the Dream Team Camp this July, they sure impressed many of the right people, as they were pointed out to me several times by campers, Husker players, and others in Lincoln that weekend. I finally caught up with the talented and focused sister duo to talk about their volleyball upbringing with their coach mom, her philosophy, and their attitude towards the sport and competing "any position, any time, anywhere, just get me on a court and I'll play". They don't use their size as any kind of excuse, nor their age (as was evident in July at Dream Team when they didn't care who was hitting against them, they wanted perfection. Like I said to Hope, "I can see why DBK loves you, you're a girl after her own heart, that's exactly how she would want to play," and they are close to the Louisville program as they talked about Elaina Scott and her influence on both of them and their mother. If you don't know these two, you'd better. Not flashy and may not make all of the "Big Lists", but many coaches really like them already! These are those volleyballers that you would have to go physically grab them and drag them off the court to come eat dinner! They were the best thing I ran into in Lincoln!
