Catching Up With: Star of Vandy's 2028 Class Emmie Hill

1. You had a very impressive offer list why Vandy in the end?

Thank you so much! I was really lucky with my recruiting experience and was so grateful to have different opportunities offered. I picked Vanderbilt because it had everything I was looking for in a college and more. The academic opportunities are incredible, Nashville is so much fun, and I really love the coaches. The resources I saw at Vanderbilt are unmatched. I feel like the coaching staff is really doing some very cool things with the program, like the game against UNC in New York City this year.

2. When you hear "5 for 5" does it (Scare You, Pay no attention, Don't Understand It)?

​

The 5 for 5 doesn’t bother me. I’m not sure how it will affect me in the future, but I try not to worry about things that I really can’t change. Plus I’m excited for the chance to play for five years!

3. What did you learn about the recruiting process after going through it, that you weren't ready for?

​

One thing I learned about the recruiting process was that not every call was the same. Some calls were more focused on talking about volleyball and different aspects of the school and some coaches were just trying to get to know me more as a person. I really enjoyed finally talking to the coaches but I didn’t know that they would all be such different formats. Looking back it was really a great experience but when I was in it I felt like it was a little stressful.

4. Let's Play "Rank Em" Vandy Edition: (Facilities, School Colors, Nashville, Academics, Campus and Nashville Hot Chicken)

I love everything about Vanderbilt! My "Rank Em" would have to be:  academics, facilities, campus, Nashville, school colors, hot chicken. (I don’t do well with spicy food but I’ll have to try the hot chicken when I’m up there next time!!)

5. What is something people don't know about you as a player that they should know more about?

​

One thing people might not know is that I have a pretty good sense of humor and some of my favorite moments are joking around with my teammates. I feel like it helps to keep the mood light at times and it really helps us grow closer as a team.
