PLAYER FITS 20-11
20. Mandela Masimimi - Tulane Commit - Middle - 8.13 FIT RATIO
High Ceiling as shown in appearances at NTDP training sessions
Immediate Playing Time should be in play no doubt as this is a talent that the Green Wave has to utilize RIGHT AWAY as Masimimi will be coveted as she develops.
Regionality a definite attraction for her signing with Tulane and playing close to home right away.
Locker Room + or - : We don’t know enough of her personally to make a legit call on this, but the investigating we have done lead us to believe that Mandela is going to be an asset to any locker room setting she is a part of.
Chance to Elevate Program PPV: Boy this is a lot of pressure, but they grab the right transfer and have a veteran nucleus then Mas could be that final spark to take Tulane on a December to Remember.
19. Sarah Gonzalez - LSU Commit - Libero - 8.15 FIT RATIO
Immediate Meaningful PT: Listen the missing ingredient to the LSU formula has been passing. Gonzalez can solve that quickly.
Locker Room: She is a calming and positive athlete that could be huge on a roster that is starting to get loaded down with several personalities that can be rather large. Sarah is a TEAM PLAYER she will be huge in the Locker Room.
Regionality: Texas/Louisiana = Tomato/Tomata
Chance to Elevate: I am VERY HIGH on Gonzalez as I know who else was VERY HIGH on Gonzalez. LSU is loaded with high flyers, but defense has killed them. If she can come in and be a Freshman Phenom, which I think she can be she could lead a storybook run that gets things rolling in Baton Rouge that is boiling to be great.
18. Tatum Kelly - Illinois - Setter - 8.18 FIT RATIO
Regionality: Huge that she stayed home for the Illini
Match with Coach Mentality: She fits in with Tammas and his laid back, but focused mentality. She is a midwest kid and hardworking you just won’t get a ton of celebration out of her. She understands Illinois VB and the area.
Chance to Elevate: She has a chance to come in and RE-elevate a program that has been down for a minute and give it some new life in the conference and region.
Immediate PT: I think you have to look at going with her early. The staff has to look to create some kind of Program Spark soon and playing the big local recruit to try and work some magic could be exactly that.
Kelly could come in with very high expectations and pressure, but for a Chicago Area kid she should welcome that for her home state squad a chance to be a legend.
17. Leah Greeny - West Virginia - Outside Hitter - 8.19 FIT RATIO
Matches with the Coaches: Playing for your parents Greeny gets a dream come true to help make a legendary run together.
Chance to Elevate the Program: Absolutely. Leah will be the STAR and WVU has been down for sometime so she could be the missing piece too take this program to lights never seen in Morgantown.
Immediate Meaningful PT: You would have to think that she comes home to get a very good opportunity to come in right away and make a major contribution at the pin.
Regionality: Of course!
Fit the program right now: Uh yes, she knows the program guidebook inside and out. It’s HOME.
16. Avery Minor - Michigan Commit - Opposite - 8.24 FIT RATIO
Michigan just brings in more high-end talent. Minor is the next example of a fire-cracker with a live fuse.
High Ceiling : YES she can go a long ways, but again so much of that is up to Avery.
Fit the Program: She does now and hope that stays in-tact because she truly feels connected to the staff at MU.
15. Emmie Hill - Vanderbilt Commit - Middle - 8.26 FIT RATIO
Chance to Elevate: Emmie can be a part of something special at Vandy if she fulfills her commitment.
High Ceiling: YES so much room for growth and development and this girl is NOT afraid to speak up and talk about what she needs/wants.
FIT into the program: Hill talks about it in our recent interview “I’m so comfortable in Nashville and with the coaching staff, they were all so welcoming to me.”
14. Surfia Grounds - Baylor Commit - Opposite - 8.29 FIT RATIO
From the Island to the Lodestar Grounds has a chance to be great in Baylor.
High Ceiling: Grounds showed this season how fast she can move up. Very good probability of her game taking a BIG jump.
Style of Training and being coached: Rounds fits this staff and mentality well. She can relate to the attitude in the gym.
13. Lola Loncar - Clemson Commit - Libero - 8.31 FIT RATIO
Chance to Elevate: I think that Clemson is that program on the verge of making a program changing move. Loncar could very easily be that missing piece that helps when she arrives. It would definitely be a program next step.
High Ceiling: Loncar is one of the top bros in this class and was getting major USA VB love two years ago. She might not have made a National Team this past year, but we don’t think she is far off the ones that did. Coming from AVC she knows hard work and has the ability to continue to take her game to higher levels, we feel she will.
Immediate and Meaningful PT: Of course this isn’t promised to anyone, but Loncar comes with the mentality and pedigree of playing in some intense environments and knowing how to compete. She will come to Clemson ready and will be as prepped as any Frosh to push for a spot on the court immediately.
Fit for the Current Program: From what I’ve learned of Coach Jackie and her program and their “quietly keep building and working” and the same of Lola and how they do things at AVC I think she completely “gets the FIT” at Clemson. She doesn’t need to National PR and Spotlight she will earn it on the floor.
Physicality: Can be combined with others, but it’s something many coaches will often put very high on FIT LIST and I think Loncar has that advantage to being successful early at Clemson that she’s built for college ball already.
12. Alexandra Knox - Pitt Commit - Setter - FIT RATIO
Wow, in my heart I could put Knox in the top 3-4, but as a staff we threw the #s together and she came out here at 12, which is accurate and fair, but this was always the perfect fit for her.
Intangibles: Start with one we didn’t score extreme high on many athletes, it has to be through the roof for Knox. She has many little things that win and especially at Pitt, where she will be willing to do even more of the crafty little things because of her extra love for her hometown school.
Regionality: Obvious
Match Coaches Mentality: Huge plus that I was drawn to with Alex over a year ago. She’s East Coast tough and so calm and collected on the court. She has never shown the trait of getting flustered in a match a big camp or a big gym when things haven’t gone well for her or her team. That is perfect for working with everything going on in the gyn at Pitt, keep focused.
Surprising on most of the the other categories Knox fell mostly in the middle (PT isn’t predicted, not elevating a program that has been to 5 Final Fours, her ceiling is TBD obviously all of the top setters have high potential, but they also have quite a bit of skill or they wouldn’t be where they are at) I think a strength of Knox is she will blend into any locker room.
11. Chayse Courtney - Stanford Commit - Outside - 8.34 FIT RATIO
The Stanford commits always sneak up on me and then after they commit I say “Oh duh that makes perfect sense, she is exactly what they look for every year” and Courtney is that in a versatile six-rotation pin that simply exploded up our charts and I think the USA Volleyball charts as well this past year.
High-Ceiling: Best part about her is that she is still growing and developing into the best part of her game. Continuing to realize her potential in her explosive game and passing, but she is going to get longer and stronger and that is where she is going to BLOW by several of these prep stars that received much more high school hype.
Regionality: Yes of course being the Cali kid and I think it’s a comfort thing, but I don’t give it as big of an impact as I would a Texas or Midwest commit.
Fit with Who Stanford is Right Now: I mean she could be a plug and play of so many pins that of been brought into the Stanford program with the same build and game. The long arms and frame and maybe not quite the leaper or physical player you see in the B1G, but someone who plays everywhere and is successful.
Immediate and Meaningful PT: Hmmm tough one, with the new rules I am going to to say YES to getting some immediate PT and I’m going to hold off on predicting how meaningful the PT becomes as that’s going to be based on how Chayse performs and it’s two years away:)
Pretty impossible for her to budge the Stanford Needle on Elevating that program’s PPV, Chayse that thing is legendary (even this old football coach knows that), but this commit could easily be in the Top 10 and maybe the best FIT of a Blue Blood program.
