PPV Climbers from Durango
With 64 amazing teams and so much action, there were players everywhere. What an event to try and take in, in person, and many scouts had eyes on the event online. After compiling notes and getting feedback here are the 2027’s whose PPV’s needed some kind of bump following the weekend.
Westley Matavao
72 OH CA Forza 1 North PPV 244 +22 (Mater Dei H
Westley makes the big jump in PPV and again I think it’s important to state that she is one of the top prep players in America and was the Tourney MVP. She is the best player on her HS team (which included several D1 athletes). The college discussion will be “ceiling”, but Matavao is in the Top 10 OHs in this class and will get looked at by many of the national programs (especially every West Coast program). She led her team and her consistency is a positive for her. This # is much more accurate than where we originally had her. Exciting to watch, always locked in and such a powerful game that translates well to the next level.
Jaycee Mack
73 OH CA WAVE PPV242 +4
Mack looked better than she did at nationals and looked even more confident. I think she stacks up as a good comp with Matavao for the next level. Adds so much with her passing skills in the back row and her attack. Her # will go up if she continues to add to her vertical game.
Tessa Larkin
74 OH AZ AZ Storm PPV 280 +1
Slight bump for Larkin, but she continues to show that she will be one of the premier OH’s to covet in 2027. Sticks out on her prep team and gets highlighted much more, but the talk is there for this one. She is in the mix. Scouts were right she does surprise you with how high she contacts the ball.
Lauren Forelli
73 OH AZ AZ Revolution PPV 268 +2
Forelli also got notes for a positive weekend in Vegas. You can see some similarities with her game and Larkin’s (maybe slightly less explosive), but her play in the back row is excellent as is her attacking.
Hanna McGinnest
72 OH CA Mizuno Long Beach PPV 223 +2
Saw McGinnest last December at NTDP and a bit at nationals, but again this is a college-ready frame and explosive athlete. She splits reps on her Sierra Canyon team (like she does on her club team) so she won’t get the glaring stats that others will, but she is quick off the ground with a whip of an arm and had a solid showing in Vegas bumping her PPV a slight bit more.
Naomi Livings
74 OPP TX TAV PPV 240
Our initial PPV for a highly talked about right-side from Texas who has attended USA VB events and plays for the powerful TAV club. You can see the physical skill set that will make her a sought-after recruit.
Emery Gonzales
70 Setter CA WAVE PPV 183
With the event at four venues and 64 teams it was difficult to find “brand new” talent in the 2027 class so much of the time was speaking with scouts and watching current targets, but Emery Gonzales did jump out to us. The Torrey Pines setter moves well and has solid footwork. She has good communication with her attackers already and is already nearly 6’0”. She plays for WAVE so it will be interesting to see her development by club season, but she could be a top Cali setter in the 2027 class.
