Future ACC All-Stars: Part One

Future ACC All-Stars: Part One

Kyla Williams (Pitt/PPV 277): A 6-4 middle blocker out of Cleveland and the top ranked recruit in Ohio, Williams is the latest addition to Dan Fisher’s squad. Kyla is an effective attacker in front of and behind the setter, able to terminate from anywhere ont he court and estabilish herself as a constant threat. With an approach touch of 127in, she is already at a vertical advantage when shes in the air, and her strong court vision and awareness allow for her to find kills that not many can, On the defensive end, she is just as impressive – quick moving laterally from pin to pin, fully pressing over the net. A regular attendee of NTDP, Williams was selected for the final cut of the U19 Pan American Cup roster. By the time Williams steps on campus, she will be the perfect replacement for a graduating Bre Kelly in the middle.

Peyton Kubik (Pitt/PPV 270): A 6-2 outside out of Olathe, Kansas – Kubik is touted as one of the top overall recruits. If her name sounds familiar, it’s because she belongs to a family of talented collegiate volleyball players, including her older sisters Madi (Nebraska) and Hayden (Nebraska, Tennessee). Even so, Peyton is writing her own legacy and journey, pledging herself to Pitt rather than one of her sisters alma maters. As a freshman at Blue Valley West High School, she tallied 407 kills (4.2 per set), in addition to 229 digs and a highly-impressive 94.6% reception rate. If these statistics are indicative of anything, its a testament the all-around skill of Peyton; proving she can be a valuable contributor in various ways. For a Pittsburgh team in need of a 6-rotation outside able to both hold down the back court and be termianl in the front – Kubik is the perfect fit.

Carsyn Comer (Louisville/PPV 260): A 6-3 middle blocker and the no.1 recruit in Indiana, Comer is the first member of Dan Meske’s first Lousiville recruiting class – which is a very good sign for Cardinal fans. An offensive-minded middle known for her quick arm swing a ability to “thump the ball,” Carsyn established herself a highly-sought prospect. It is a combination of quick transitions, impressive speed, and purposeful precision that makes her such a dynamic attacker; racking up 488 career kills on a very efficient .430 clip. Comer has earned critical acclaim for her game as well; a JVA All-National Team and AAU All-American, proving she has what it takes to compete with best. Comer could be agame-changing recruit for Cardinals, headlining a very strong class that bodes incredibly well for the future of the program.

Marlie Smith (North Carolina/PPV 260): A 5-10 setter and outside hitter out of Clarkston, Michigan – Smith is the type of player to make everyone around her better. She is a setter on her Legacy 16-1 Adidias team; able effortlessly sling the ball from pin to pin, she is particularly good at going against the flow and getting her hitters one-on-one opprotunities. The ideal location of her sets maximizes their ability to score, and shes not afraid to throw in an attack of her own from time to time. An AAU All-American and 15 Open National Champion, Marlie was named MVP of the entire tournament. She plays outside hitter for her high school (something typical of top recruits in different positions) proving herself to be just as valuable as an attacker and defender. In her two seasons at Clarkston High School, she has tallied 422 kills on a .312 clip, adding 490 digs and 168 aces.

Keilani Ledaja-Brewer (Louisville/PPV 255): A 6-0 outside/middle out of North Carolina and the most recent addition to Meske’s squad, Ledaja-Brewer has been hailed as Louisville’s next undersized all-star attacker – following in the footsteps of Luper and Debeer. With a strong approach, quick arm swing, and high-flying vertical, her athleticism more than overcompensates for her vertical disadvantage. She has such a vast toolbox of shots; ripping through the hole in the block, cuffing it down the line, cutting it sharp inside – she’s got it all. She has tallied 397 kills in her two seasons at Chapel Hill High School, adding 104 digs and 33 blocks. An AVCA Phenom and UA NEXT invitee, Keilani attended an extensive resume of top college programs – including Penn State, Nebraska, and Pitt – before the Cardinals won her over. Ledaja-Bower is a unique athletic talent and perfect fit for the program, honing all the traits to potentially be a breakout star in just her freshman season.
