Day 5: Everything Going on in the Open Period of College Volleyball Recruiting

Day 5 of the recruiting cycle was tied for the largest one yet with 20 total commits. 

Top Commits

Kyla Williams MB AVC PPV 277 committed to Pitt

Williams is one of the best athletes in the class with a 124 inch block touch and 127 inch approach touch. She has insane numbers and was the highest MB left in terms of PPV. Pitt continues to add to their stacked 2027 class now sitting at #1 on our rankings.

McKenna McIntosh OH Vision PPV 279 committed to USC

McIntosh was the second highest PPV left on our big board heading into yesterday and late last night she announced her commitment to USC who had yet to get a recruit. McIntosh has an explosive arm and has been absolutely incredible at both the high school and club level. She is going to make a big impact for USC.

Westley Matavao OH Forza 1 PPV 273 committed to UCLA

UCLA also got their first commit in Westley Matavao, who was one of the top three outside hitters remaining. She excelled as a sophomore on a crazy deep Mater Dei team finishing with 276 kills on 3.5 kills per set. This is a massive get for the Bruins. 

Isabel Incinelli MB WPVC PPV 232 committed to Texas A&M

Incinelli is an incredibly good pickup for Texas A&M who already landed the best setter in the class in Sophee Peterson. Incinelli is a top two middle blocker in Florida and is 6’5”. She can play middle and swing like an outside, nearly having 300 kills for WPHS last year. A&M is in great shape early on this recruiting cycle.

Storylines of the Day

TCU Has Historic Day For The Program

With all the top teams in Texas, it was TCU who made the biggest splash. The Horned Frogs landed three girls with 200+ PPVs and now sit with four commits all with PPVs over that 200 mark. TCU started yesterday by landing Lexi Martin (OH, TAV, PPV 228) who has been an absolute stud at VR Eaton High School and had over 330 kills last year. They then landed AZ Revolution star Kristen Sheehy (MB, AZ Rev, PPV 228), The 6’4 middle finished with 87 blocks and over 100 kills last year. Finally, they landed City Volleyball’s Piper Chylinski (S, City VC, PPV 213) to add a setter and Chylinski was one of the best. We have her ranked as the top 2027 setter in California.

Ohio State Lands Two in Big Day For The Buckeyes

Kate Kalcynzki (OH, Legacy, PPV 255) and Ella Gravlee (OH, Tribe, PPV 225), both announced their commitments to Ohio State last night and moved Ohio State’s class into the top 10 after Day 5. Kalcynzki is a 6x NTDP attendee and had over 300 kills as a freshman. Gravlee had over 300 kills last season. She has an explosive arm and can really do everything on the floor. The Buckeyes made two big splashes yesterday.

Graceyn Shepard, L/DS. Triangle, PPV 208, South Carolina

Shepard is a talented Libero who performed well at camps she attended and has been one of the top bros in North Carolina since she started as a freshman

Danielle Lewis, L/DS, Carolina Union, PPV 179, Mizzou

Lewis nearly reached the 500 dig mark last season for Lake Norman Charter in North Carolina and has the ability to get anything off the floor.

Miranda Knoll, OH, Tribe, PPV 205, Northwestern

The Wildcats landed their second commit in the last two days. Knoll is one of the top outsides in Florida and has been a consistent player on a talented King’s Academy team since eighth grade. 

Lyla Crowder, MB, 1United, PPV 187, Kansas

Crowder is one of the top 2027 middles in Texas and is a top 10 player overall in the state this class. She had over 375 kills this season for Frisco Lone Star and also added over 100 digs and 65 blocks. 

Zamari Christensen, S, Club V, PPV 223, Saint Mary’s

The Gaels make a major splash landing one of the few 200+ PPV setters left on the board in Christensen. Christensen was a First Team All-State player in Utah this year with over 500 assists. She is a two-time USAV All-American.

Coco Lewis, OH, VA Juniors, PPV 208, Virginia

The Cavaliers were able to keep one of the top players in the state home by securing Lewis. She was the top 2027 OH in Virginia and was a first team All-Conference and first team All-Region player for Herndon High School. She also has an approach touch over 10 feet.

Lila Ellsworth, OH, AZ Storm, Utah State

Ellsworth reached the 400 kill mark at Highland High School this past season and was named region offensive player of the year this season in the 6A Fiesta region. 

Reina Jones, S/RS, Houston Juniors, PPV 159, UNLV

Jones is a multi-skilled player. She can hit and block as well while playing both at the high school and club level. This was a great find by UNLV.

Delaney Wright, OH, TAV Houston, Utah

Wright as a sophomore has already reached 1000 career kills for Montgomery high school. She has had 540 kills or more in each of her two seasons. She is a game changer and has such an explosive swing. 

Addison Harris, OH, Memphis Metro, Ole Miss

Harris has a ten-foot approach jump and had over 370 kills as a Freshman. Harris has a chance to make an impact as she becomes Ole Miss’ fourth commit

Audrey White, OH, Mountain Peak, Utah State

White was one of the top players in Utah last season having 472 kills and winning AVCA Utah Player of the Week twice. She has a 34 inch vertical and a 10’1” approach touch. Utah State landed two great players yesterday.

Addy Nicks, OH, AZ Rev, Washington State

Nicks is one of the top players on an absolutely stacked AZ Revolution team. She will be Washington State’s first commit this year and can be an impact player for the Cougars.
