Top '28 Setters out of the Lakes

Alexandra Knox - Gold - 3DGE

A top-three setter prospect nationally, Pittsburgh’s Alexandra Knox has already put together quite the career. Plenty of NTDP sessions, JVA All-National honors, and, most recently, inclusion on the U19 National Team roster. Watching  her play, you understand why. Knox sets with great tempo and demonstrates high-level decision making. She is also very athletic, allowing her to push the ball with speed from one pin to the other and deliver perfect sets from her knees.

Tegan Loechler - Silver - Milwaukee Sting

Milwaukee Sting’s Tegan Loechler is one of many setters in this class who can play both setter and right side at a high level. At 6’3”, she certainly has the physicality to be dominant on the pin, but also is undoubtedly attractive to programs looking for height at the setting position. As a hitter, she has a quick arm and attacks with power and precision. As a setter, she has excellent form and a great connection with her hitters, including her middles. Regardless of the position she’s playing, she brings fantastic blocking on the right pin. As far as Loechler’s resume is concerned, she’s attended multiple NTDP sessions and has attended camps at top-level programs like Penn State, Louisville, and Florida. Playing for Divine Savior Holy Angels’ varsity squad, she was recognized as an AVCA Third Team All-American this past season.

Tatum Kelly - Silver - 1st Alliance

One of the top ‘28 prospects out of Illinois, Tatum Kelly of 1st Alliance is a one-on-one-creating machine thanks to her speed and high-IQ decision making. Any team that values high-volume middle attacking would especially benefit from a player like Kelly, who rewards her middles in transition and routinely gets them a wide open net. This club season, she’s helped secure multiple bids to nationals for 1st Alliance with top placements at qualifiers. Additionally, Kelly has attended multiple NTDP sessions and been to many high-profile camps, including those at Kentucky, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Payton Woodruff - Elite Red - Legacy

Yet another recent standout player from Michigan’s Legacy, Payton Woodruff is a do-it-all setter who makes everyone she plays with better. A 2024 and 2025 Michigan state champion with Detroit County Day as well as a member of the 2026 JVA Girls All-National Team, Woodruff has attended many high-level college camps, including those at Florida, Tennessee, and Louisville. She sets with pace and precision, and is very deceptive when she goes over on the second contact.

Ava Kiernan - Elite Red - Michigan Elite

We’ve loved what we’ve seen of Ava Kiernan through this club season. She’s made a seamless transition from being a middle/right-side hitter to a setter. She isn’t afraid to be creative, often running her middles from off the net and pushing pace from one pin to the other. At 6’2”, she is another physical setter who sets up an intimidating block on the right pin.

Quinn Ische - Elite Orange - MKE Sting

Like her teammate Loechler, Quinn Ische is a setter/opposite combo player for Milwaukee Sting. As a 5’9” lefty, her focus has been more on the setting position, where she stays aggressive when in the front row and can set with tempo from just about anywhere on the court.

Penelope Reisman - Elite Orange - Tri-State Elite

A two-time Ohio state champion with Seton High School, Penelope Reisman is a 6’0” setter who has a lot of promise. With great footwork and consistent tempo, she sets a nicely balanced offense that makes it hard for opposing blockers to keep up. At her height, and with experience playing as a right-side hitter, she brings a strong blocking presence to the right pin as well.

Liv Wender - Elite Orange - Legacy

Liv Wender is one of those setters who is just fun to watch. She is aggressive both from the service line and when she’s in the front row, and also puts her hitters in excellent positions to score even when setting from well off the net. Her speed and deceptive setting earned her a spot on the JVA Watchlist Class of 2028 as well as the 2025 AVCA Phenom Watchlist. She has spent time at numerous college camps including at Indiana, South Carolina, Northern Iowa, and Rice.

Charlee Groninger - Elite Orange - Circle City

Charlee Groninger runs the offense for the Circle City 16 squad that has earned not one, not two, but three 16 Open bids to GJNC nationals. This comes after winning bronze with her 15-1 squad at last year’s nationals, for which she was named to the All-Tournament team. Beyond her sound setting technique and poise on the court, she has a great serve which helps string together scoring runs for her squad.

Addy Kilroy - Orange - Munciana

A 5’9” left-handed prospect trained in Munciana’s signature fast-paced system, Addy Kilroy is an athletic setter who pairs precise location with the savvy to score on her own. Her smooth footwork combined with her court vision and volleyball IQ allow her to excel as a defensive blocker and an out-of-system playmaker.

Maggie Sliwa - Orange - Rev VB Academy

At 6’3”, Maggie Sliwa brings all the physicality and sound technique you could hope for in a setter. Her long wingspan lends itself to excellent blocking as well as the ability to save tight passes and turn them into scoring opportunities, making her an attractive prospect for programs running a 5-1.

Nicole Bontrager - Orange - Ignite Elite

Being from a volleyball family, this sport runs in Nicole Bontrager’s blood and it shows in how she plays. She’s got a nice, fast release when setting, plenty of athleticism to go around, and plays some truly exceptional right-back defense.

Paislee Terry - Orange - Munciana

A 2025 AAU All-American, Paislee Terry brings composure and precision to her command of Munciana’s offense. She sets a fast offense and has excellent body control, making it impossible until the last second to know where she’ll be sending the ball. She also holds her own when playing backrow defense, and has a whip of an arm when she gets the opportunity to swing on the right side.

Kelsey Green - Elevation

At 5’9”, Kelsey Green may not be the tallest setter prospect, but she more than makes up for it with her athleticism and ability to run a super fast offense. Her placement and speed gets the ball in a consistently hittable spot for her attackers, and she distributes well to all her hitters. Plus, she has mastered the art of going over on two, with defenders barely having the chance to move before the ball is on their part of the floor.

Sage Olson - Sky High

A 5’11” lefty setter who boasts a 10’ approach touch, Sage Olson is a delightful talent to watch. She plays with a lot of confidence, never letting a subpar first contact rattle her, and is an explosive right-side hitter when she gets the chance. With Sky High 16 Elite, she won the 2025 GJNC 16 USA division and was named MVP.
