Triple Crown Ballers to Watch: Setters/Middles

Triple Crown Ballers to Watch: Setters/Middles

This weekend (June 7th-9th) is the 2025 Triple Crown Summer NIT for girls volleyball, at the Arizona Athletic Grounds. Many of the top Southern-based clubs in the nation will compete for the elusive trophy, as the ‘27s congregate for their final tournament, and the ‘26s are eager to share their skills with the world. Yesterday, I covered pin hitters – today, here are some of my picks for middles and setters to watch out for going into this event (all matches will be streamed through BallerTV.)

Tinsley Welker – #29 H. Skyline (S): A Sugarland, Texas native, and 6-0 setter, Welker (PPV 227) has accumulated quite a resume of college camp invites. The Houston Chronicle Newcomer of the Year, 6A Newcomer of the Year, and VYPE Newcomer of the Year turned some heads after leading high school Freshman in assists nationally with 1,117 in one season. She has made really good choices, and has such a good feel for the offensive distribution – always putting up a hittable ball, especially on the opposite and back row attacks. Her decent height gives her a blocking presence at the net, and the rest of her game will only develop alongside her.

Kendall Omoruyi – #8 AZ Storm (MB): A 6-4 middle and third in the class with a PPV of 291, Kendall is highly desired by several top programs – Nebraska included. The UA Next MVP plays club with the prestigious organization, AZ Storm, as well as having experience playing for USA. Omoruyi uses every bit of her 6 '4 frame to her advantage; quick in transition, able to get on the ball at its peak, and thus – bounce balls well within the 10 foot line. Her blocking is just as impressive – her head above the net as her long arms suffocate opponents.

Myrsa Greenamyre – #11 Dynasty (MB): A 6-1 middle blocker out of Kansas, Myrsa is a distinct offensive weapon for her Dynasty squad. She tries to make herself up and available as often as possible, running in front of or behind the setter to switch things up. She can tell whether to hit it thumb down the line or cut it cross-body to the left side, or just hammer it down. In addition, Greenamyre poses a large defensive threat at the net; her arms extended up and over, patrolling.

Adelyn Chang – #2 AZ Storm (S): A 5-8 setter for an elite Arizona Storm team, Chang fluidly sets up a consistent offense, trying to give her hitters the best possible opportunities to score. You can tell she has a high volleyball IQ based on her quick decisions that often result in one-on-ones for her attackers, along with a deceptive technique. At Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona, Chang tallied 882 assists (9 per set) on the season, 204 digs, 23 aces, and 17 kills. She has established herself to be an all-around leader on the court, and will look to rally her team to one last hometown victory.

Nola Wallace – #44 Aspire (MB): A staggering 6-5 at on 16, Wallace utilizes the most of her height and 121 in standing reach – able to fully reach over and close blocks in a way not many young players can. She is a force at the net, and seems to either get a touch, or full on stuff the opposing attack almost every time. Her read blocking skills and court awareness are already very strong, being named Top 10 6A Blockers in 2023, and more recently – AZ Region USA All-Star.

Kail Shill – #1 Aspire (S): A 5-9 setter from Gilbert, Arizona, and member of Aspire Volleyball Club – Shill delivers balls effortlessly from across the court, leaves it all on the floor, and makes her teammates better in the process. Recently, she led her team to winning the AZ Qualifier tournament and received a Nationals bid, in addition to taking 2nd place in 16 Open at the MLK Classic. At Perry High School, Shill averaged 9 assists per set, 1.6 digs per set, and racked up 26 aces.
