The 2025 World Championships are underway in Thailand, bringing together the world’s top volleyball talent. Among the elite athletes on the global stage are three proud alumni of the University of Louisville volleyball program.
Representing Spain is setter Raquel Lázaro (Louisville 2021–22), whose steady leadership and playmaking continue to shine at the international level. Mexico’s Sofía Maldonado (Louisville 2024), a powerful right-side attacker, has impressed with her attacking consistency and dynamic presence on the court. Rounding out the trio is Puerto Rican setter Wilma Rivera (Louisville 2017–18), a seasoned competitor known for her precision setting and ability to control the flow of the game.
