It was a night full of Cardinal pride as the University of Louisville women’s volleyball team hosted its annual alumni match, and this year’s edition gave fans plenty to cheer about on and off the court.
Following the match, head coach Dan Meske introduced several Louisville volleyball legends in attendance and shared exciting updates about the program. Fans got a first look at his brand-new coaching staff, a talented incoming freshman class, and key transfers expected to make an impact this fall.
The evening wasn’t just about looking forward, though. It was also about celebrating the present and honoring the past. Fans enjoyed a lively Q&A with junior libero Kamden Schrand and sophomore setter Nayelis Cabello, while alumni and returning players relived last season’s run to the 2024 NCAA National Championship as they received their championship rings in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Perhaps the biggest sign of Louisville volleyball’s rise came from the stands. The gym was packed with energized, attentive fans, reflecting the surging popularity of the sport across the city. What once might have been a casual preseason tune-up now felt like a major event, with supporters hanging on every point and celebrating the program’s momentum.
From reconnecting with Cardinal greats to celebrating the future of Louisville volleyball, the night was filled with energy, excitement, and tradition. For fans and players alike, it was a reminder of why the Cards’ community is truly something special.
