USC and UCLA Heat Up Rivalry in June! Sign Top Cali Prospects Minutes Apart

While the East Coast was sleeping the those Cali schools were taking big time recruiting jabs at each other in PRIMETIME.  About midnight eastern McKenna McIntosh SCVC Outside and U19 team member PPV 279 posted that she was committing to USC  The first commit for Brad Keller and his staff for the class and an important one in the fact that the Trojans kept the state's #2 overall prospect home in Cali and McIntosh is a difference maker that was rumored to be looked at by schools such as Pitt and possibly Stanford so this is a huge W for Keller's staff.

The night was not close to over because before anyone could refresh their Insta feed (or about 32 minutes on my time) another West Coast bomb drops, Forza 1 star and another U19 national team member, Westley Matavao announces her verbal on social media.  But, the prospect with a PPV of 273 and long predicted to be a lock for USC commits to none other than the the Trojans cross-town rivals the UCLA Bruins.  So within 35 minutes two of the top three prospects in the state commit to stay home and stay in-city.  The Matavao is an even W for the Bruin program and staff who has been riding a recruiting high since January where they have crushed the portal, but this tops those efforts PR wise for sure.  Matavao is that Top Cali prospect the staff hasn't been able to land yet and will bring with her a lot of attention.

Both of these young ladies are difference makers on the court and both should be difference makers in the locker room in their own way.  Two totally different personalities, but both positive energy givers.  Bottom line both add big-time talent and athletic ability to B1G programs and local faces that fans can follow and get behind.  It also helps add to the City Rivalry and I love that.  I also love that both chose to stay home and play in front of family and friends.  This is a W for USC and for UCLA, but it's a W for the Rivalry as well.  Let's get that "Battle for LA" rivalry fired back up because I promise you these two recruits will definitely be bringing the HEAT to it very soon.
