Hyla Petkovic knows Louisville's first Libero GOAT and is following in her footsteps.

Long before Hyla Petkovic became one of Kentucky's top young liberos, she was growing up

around the game, inspired by the remarkable career the GOAT built. Well Hyla calls her "mom", but she to everyone else she was the ORIGINAL GOAT in Louisville Libero History.

Sarah Drury Petkovic built one of the most accomplished volleyball careers in Cardinal history.

After walking on at the University of Louisville, she earned a scholarship, became one of the

University of Louisville’s' all-time great defensive players, set the school's single-season digs

record, and spent five years representing Team USA on the women's national team. Today, she

continues to shape the sport as Chief of Staff for Louisville Volleyball.

Now, Hyla is beginning to write a story of her own.

The Assumption High School standout and KIVA libero has quickly established herself as one of

Kentucky's premier defensive prospects in the Class of 2029. She recently earned an invitation

to train with USA Volleyball's National Team Development Program (NTDP), an honor reserved

for many of the country's top young athletes and another milestone in her rapidly growing

résumé.

While her last name is familiar throughout the volleyball community, Hyla's success has been

earned through her own consistency, work ethic, and production on the court.

Last season with KIVA, she recorded:

596 digs

94 service aces

106 assists

2.3 passing grade

We just gave her an initial PPV of 91.3 and we are not easy on incoming 'bros at all so that is definitely saying something

Those numbers reflect a libero who impacts every phase of the game. Her ability to control

serve receive, extend rallies with relentless defensive play, and consistently keep her team in

system makes her one of the most dependable liberos in the 2029 class. Her poise, court

awareness, and defensive instincts continue to separate her from her peers.

As she enters her sophomore season at Assumption, Hyla continues to build a résumé that

speaks for itself. An invitation to USA Volleyball's National Team Development Program (NTDP),

596 digs last club season, and a reputation as one of the region's most dependable passers

have positioned her among the top liberos to watch in the 2029 recruiting class. Petkovic

attended both the University of Louisville and the University of Utah’s prospect camps this

summer. As the 2029 class continues to develop, she remains one of the nation's most

promising young liberos.
