Top '28 Middles out of the Lakes

Mckenzie Andrews - Silver - Legacy

Already boasting a resume that reads like an upperclassman’s, Mckenzie Andrews has cemented herself as a premier anchor at the net. Her time within the national team pipeline and international tournament victories demonstrate a level of maturity and tactical readiness that will allow her to be a day-one contributor for top-tier NCAA programs. At the net, Andrews combines fluid lateral movement with clean approach routes. Rather than relying solely on raw physical gifts, she operates with a polished efficiency that allows her to consistently out-pace opposing blocks, making her one of the safest bets for high impact in this class.

Jordyn Blair - Silver - Circle City

A key part of this year’s triple-qualified Circle City 16 squad, Jordyn Blair has all the makings of a superstar. Standing at 6'3" with an elite wingspan, Blair’s length allows her to establish a massive defensive presence and makes her ceiling very high. Having already tested herself in environments including multiple NTDP sessions and the UA Next High School camp, Blair's raw tools are undisputed, and she has the work ethic and diligence to match. Her ability to impact matches through her reach and high contact point makes her one of the most intriguing, high-upside prospects in the region.

Paityn Lauck - Orange - Pineapple HP

A two-time Indiana state champion, Paityn Lauck is a tactical, high-IQ attacker who has proven she knows how to win. Though 6’0” might be slightly undersized for a middle blocker, you wouldn’t know it when watching her given her explosive jump and heavy arm swing. Beyond Lauck’s excellent attacking ability, she is a well-rounded player who brings a strong, disciplined block to the net and can shut down attacks from players of any size.

Lauren Williams - Orange - Tri-State Elite

A 2025 All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference First-Team selection as well as the 2025-26 Offensive Player of the Year at Milford High School, Lauren Williams has wasted no time making her presence felt at this level. She is quick off the ground and has impressive hang time that allows her to assess the best attack before making contact with the ball. Her court vision and speed earned her a spot on the 2025 JVA Watchlist as well as an MVP title at the 2025 Vanderbilt collegiate camp.

Abbie Powell - Elite Red - Munciana

Playing for Southern Wells, Abbie Powell ended the 2025 high school season as the most efficient attacker in Indiana in terms of hitting percentage, hitting a whopping .564 with over five kills per set. Unsurprisingly, given how outstanding her performance was, she was named the 2025 conference MVP and received 2025 IHSVCA First-Team All-State honors. With experience hitting from both the left and right sides of the court, she is terminal from anywhere, but her lateral quickness and ability to close blocks make her indispensable in the middle. She will be a fantastic addition to any teams looking to run a quick tempo and get their middle involved as much as possible.

Sophia Polec - Elite Orange - Adversity

Standing at 6’2”, Sophia Polec is a very well-rounded middle who uses her speed and athleticism to score on both sides of the ball. Whether she is running one of her many routes or tracking down opposing attackers, she is extremely fast and diligent. There doesn’t seem to be a shot that Polec can’t hit, as she shows great synergy with her setters and is always up and available to hit the ball.

Grace Hoverson - Orange - Madtown

Whether she’s attacking or blocking, Grace Hoverson is an imposing and physical presence to the front row. Her contributions extend beyond the stats sheet, as she routinely racks up block touches and - in the rare event that her attacks don’t result in a kill - creates freeball opportunities on her side of the net. Playing for a small high school, she has accumulated a versatile skillset that will make her a great asset at the next level.

Finley Smith - Orange - Circle City

A bronze medalist in last year’s GJNC 15 Open division, Finley Smith is a terminal attacker who seamlessly transitions off the net in order to rack up kills for her team. Her slide attack is particularly lethal thanks to her athleticism and top-tier court vision, but she is just as reliable in front of her setter. As a blocker, she moves quickly from pin to pin, closing blocks well while also regularly shutting down opposing middle attacks.

Eliana Ashley - Green - Mintonette

Eliana Ashley stands out with a blend of length, power, and high-ceiling potential. She is extremely quick to close the block and regularly makes high-impact plays that fire up her team and can shift the momentum of a match. While her blocking is what stands out the most, the offensive part of her game continues to grow immensely, with her demonstrating confidence and varied attacks that make the most of her heavy arm and big jump.

Lauren Locker - Green - AVC

Fast off the ground and always available in transition, Lauren Locker has a whip of an arm that allows her to hit sharp angles with ease. She is extremely effective in front of her setter, and, in the rare moments when opposing teams are able to put up two blockers on her, she’s able to adjust mid-air and find any small seam in the block to score. Beyond her play at the net, she has a great serve that she’s able to drill directly down the line with a tricky pace that makes it tough to pass.
