Payton Woodruff - 2028 - Legacy
Woodruff is not a stranger to the NTDP setting, but working her way back from injury, the Michigan prospect has taken the training well to work her way back. Her sets to the left pin were consistently excellent throughout various drills. It seemed like she struggled to find the right connection with right-side/slide hitters early on in the session, but as the day went on the veteran started getting her rhythm back and settling in again.
Molly Monday - 2028 - Tribe
Monday, who has been the story of this season for us, has been fun to watch in Colorado thanks to her technical skills and great consistent placement. She did a nice job rescuing tight balls out of the net and setting with precision to her pins. She had a bit of a struggle setting her middles on the gap, but this is something we touched on pre-NTDP (how athletes would handle working on new techniques or skills in this big setting) Monday was amazing and even when she struggled her body language was great (eye contact with coaches, head nodding, talking with teammates no sarcastic or negative self-talk) she was practicing the things she had to work on and that might say as much about Monday as the fact that she will for certain master this more complicated route with time and practice.
Roxy Rigo - 2029 - Mintonette
It’s hard to watch Rigo and not think that she is a star in the making. The natural mechanics are there, and so is the speed. Her selection - finding the correct pin to set - was dead on as well, even at the fast pace of play in the NTDP gym. Of all the setters, hitters consistently seemed the most comfortable hitting off of Rigo’s sets.
Brady Collins - 2030 - Triangle
Collins has been attending NTDP sessions since she was in eighth grade, which showed in the way she was able to keep up with the older setters and hitters on the floor. She is quick on her feet, has great ball placement, and sets the slide very well. Brady comes in with the most hype of any of the young setters, and she is playing very well right now, carrying on that legacy of elite setters from the great volleyball state of North Carolina right now.
Eva Bower - 2031 - Idaho Crush
Bower is one of the younger (if not the youngest) athletes at this session, but she is so impressive to watch. Any hype she has received so far at her young age is not simply because of her last name, but because of what she can do. She is excellent defensively, as you might expect given her pedigree, and overall, she plays with the composure and form of an elite setter.
