KMart makes it Official on long speculated portal entry. Welcome to May.

KMart makes it Official on long speculated portal entry. Welcome to May.

Stop wondering college volleyball fans and start to worry Gator Nation the news finally came.  Kennedi Martin is "officially" in the Transfer Portal, for how long is another question.  The news came around midday (depending on your time zone) from her social media so the "constant scrolling" could finally cease.

She did all the right things: thanked her coaches, teammates and the fans etc.  It's almost like the message could have been written months ago, about the last time Martin made a viral social post calling out Florida admin for not immediately naming longtime Mary Wise assistant Dave Boos as the successor when the Gator legend retired early in 2025.

Kennedi stayed quiet after that and after new HC Ryan Thies was named to take over the program in February and throughout the team's spring workouts.  With her agent working behind the scenes throwing out record # NIL deals and extras to Collectives around the country word continued to spread, was that Martin wanting out at Florida or just her agent trying to drum up interest for his client?  We now know it was both.

Martin obviously wants to play for a championship type team and her agent is looking for an extremely large NIL package.  That limits the options quite a bit, even though with athletes of this talent level it honestly always comes down to the same handful of schools nearly every time.   Most of the large collectives have said NO already, but reports were that there had been two interested schools with SMU and Wisconsin emerging as top landing spots for Martin.  Both programs have also brought in very healthy transfer classes this off-season already.  Though offers can change rapidly multiple sources had reported to us as of 1:00 PM CDT that Wisconsin looked to be the likely landing spot for KMart and it should happen soon.

Then the next question circling, is this the start of multiple transfers from the Gator program?  Or simply a one and done happening?  Are the rest of the Gator vets committed or with the departure of Martin do they see a big shot to their title hopes and follow suit?  Like it or not for college fans, this is the landscape now.  Don't pencil in your August roster until mid June for sure.
