Create a Player ProfileWelcome to Nebraska, Ryan Hunter!

If yesterday's exhibition match was a performance, then Ryan Hunter was the star of the show. The freshman opposite hitter stole everyones attention through her impressive vertical, whip of a left-arm, and ability to terminate on practically any ball – even up against a fully formed triple block. You would’ve never known that just over a year ago, she suffered a season-ending ACL tear. I asked Ryan how rewarding it felt to have such a standout performance in her official debut at the best venue of all of college volleyball; “It felt amazing and humbling to have the honor of playing for the best fans on the planet! The energy they give you makes it hard to feel anything but excited.”
She gave the fans plenty of reasons to be excited – there was one play where Sigler slung a perfect out of system set across the court and Hunter sliced the ball right through the opposing block, bouncing almost 10 feet. Her raw athletic ability is very reminiscent of Andi Jackson in her spring debut, and if that says anything about her potential, Ryan at the very least should only be on an upward trajectory. She tied for a team-high 11 kills on a .566 clip (but hit over .800 for the first 3 sets), along with a pair of blocks and digs. If she had to sum it up into one word, she says it would be; “Grateful. Grateful that my hard work is paying off, grateful that I got to share that moment with my sisters, and grateful that there truly is no place like Nebraska!”
