The Setter Transformation Continues Hoppe Flips to Wisconsin

December 2025 has been the "Month that Transformed the Setter Position in College Volleyball" and that new look continued on Tuesday.  The movement of top setters from top programs changing the look of some of the best teams in the country continues.  Gold Level Prospect and highly-decorated USA Volleyball star Isabelle Hoppe, already a signed commit to Pittsburgh's Class of 2026 and about 2-weeks from enrolling in classes, was granted her release by the Panthers program.  The 2026 Setter then signed with the Wisconsin Badgers and became part of their deep and talented recruiting class and will head to Madison, WI in January.

The move came shortly after Pitt Volleyball officially announced the signing of transfer setter Izzy Starck from the portal.  We do not have confirmation that this lead to the decision for Hoppe, but that was speculated in the recruiting circles.

Hoppe now heads to the deep and talented Wisconsin program and will work with 2-time All-American Charlie Fuerbringer who has two years of eligibility remaining.  This is another off-season homerun for Coach Sheffield as the Badgers backup setter had just left in the Transfer Portal earlier this week.  Hoppe comes in as the #2 evaluated PPV score in our Class of 2026 Setters and has international experience and a full high school and club resume.

She will be playing in the UA All-American Match next week in Orlando, FL before heading to Wisconsin.  You can read all of Isabelle's career achievements and more on her Player Profile on our website.
