The Foundation is Ready with America's #1 Rautenberg

It was a "must-have" commit and DBK delivered on the goods early for all of Cornhusker Nation.  The Class of 2028's top prospect, according to VBAdrenaline's PPV Rankings, Shayla Rautenberg needed to be a Husker and she could not get away to some rival (especially Texas).  A Nebraska friend of mine emailed me on Saturday and said "Stop writing those dumb articles even hinting that Shayla could go anywhere else.  If Texas gets to sign all of their homegrown talent, by god then it's a must we get Shayla with as small as Nebraska is!"  Great reasoning there, but in the end I don't know how much doubt there ever really was for the 3-sport star from just up the road from the Husker's Headquarters, Rautenberg is the absolute perfect fit for DBK's new regime.  Well the Head Husker got rid of any doubt by about 2 PM on June 15th as news broke on the socials and all the Big Red Nation rejoiced!

 I understand there was a recruiting class before this and yes I understand that Dani will have a couple season's under her fancy Adidas custom blazers before Shayla suits up in Adidas red, but this is HER recruit, she is LEGIT and she IS A NEBRASKAN.  So this feels like Dani's statement recruit in a way for Nebraska Nation.

I'm not the volleyball X and O guy, but I'm decent at finding intangibles in the top athletes and things that separate some of the top players in even the NCAA.  I've watched the USA VB crew and there are obviously many talented athletes in this class and many great young ladies, but there is just something a bit different still about Rautenberg.  She is the total package on and off the court.  That is why she is #1 in our national rankings because she has THAT to go along with everything else that many others in the Top 50 may have flashes of, but she also knows exactly what it will mean to put on the Nebraska practice jersey and game jersey every single day.  You combine that "extra" with her talent potential and watch out.

So I know you Cornhusker Nation you get excited about things like June 15th and this wasn't any normal one.  DBK just kept home the foundation for the future which is bright and filled with her culture.  Your going to love our #1 ranked player in the 2028 Class, she's different in a great way, she bleeds RED!
