Texas Will Face Louisville in SEC-ACC Challenge

The major announcements about Texas' 2025 season will not stop coming. This time, it was released that Texas will play Louisville in the first-ever SEC/ACC Challenge, a competition that will pit two of the top conferences against each other in a series of matches. Conference challenges have taken place before in basketball, but they are new to volleyball, and will allow for some high-interest matches with top teams playing against each other.

The competition will create some other big time matchups as well, such as Pitt vs. Kentucky, Missouri vs. Stanford, and SMU vs. Texas A&M. Texas' match will take place on Wednesday, September 10th in Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, and will also be televised nationally on ESPN. They will take on the Cards in one of their first ever matches of the Dan Meske era after Dani Busboom-Kelly took the head coaching job at Nebraska in the offseason.

The Longhorns start out the season with a GAUNTLET of a schedule in the non-conference with Creighton, Wisconsin, Stanford, and Louisville as opponents all in the first two weeks of the season. All four of those teams were top two seeds in the tournament last year. And that's before playing teams like Kentucky, Florida, and more in the SEC schedule. This team will be battle-tested against teams from all across the country come tournament time in December.
