Louisville opposite hitter Kalyssa Blackshear has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played October 6–12, following a standout stretch that showcased her growing impact on one of the nation’s top programs.
The Lomita, California native posted 30 kills over two matches, averaging 4.29 kills per set while hitting .448 for the week. Her performances helped the No. 4 Cardinals extend their perfect start in ACC play.
Blackshear’s week was highlighted by a career-high 20 kills in Louisville’s four-set win over Virginia, a match where she displayed both power and consistency from the right side. She also added six total blocks across the two contests, contributing on both sides of the net.
Through the early part of her freshman campaign, Blackshear has quickly established herself as a key piece in Louisville’s offensive system. Her blend of athleticism, composure, and versatility continues to stand out, signaling a bright future ahead for the first-year Cardinal.
