Jayhawk Staff Make Splash Land Jones for 27

A couple of conversations come to end on Sunday evening.  Where will talented A5 Setter Marissa Jones commit to play her college ball at and will Coach Matt Ulmer and his Kansas Staff make any kind of splash like we predicted them to months ago, since he took the job  and moved from Oregon.

Jones who has long been ranked the #1 or #2 setter in the Class of 2027 had been rumored at several schools over the past month, but none seemed like a great fit for the talented Jones who at 6'2" possess skills and abilities rarely found in the position.

Then you take Kansas and Ulmer who was coming off a couple of the not only Oregon's best, but the nation's top recruiting classes and tranisitioning to Kansas where frankly that kind of talent simply hadn't been assembled before.  So the question was could he and his staff do it in the Big XII and would it take a couple of years to get that high level prospect to consider KU as an option?

You look at the fit and it's potentially perfect with Jones coming to the Big XII a conference with not quite the spotlight of the B1G or the SEC so she can develop and learn while not being under quite as bright of lights immediately.  Also, one thing that Ulmer has stacked the KU cupboards with is athletic pins so Jones is going to have weapons to work with right away (a nice tool to give a young setter).

So this looks like a Win, Win, Win....A win for Jones as she verbals to a volleyball school that has Final Four potential every season.  She can be a star right away and they will put resoures into winning.  A win for Kansas because you just landed the bet Setter commit in your programs' history and team her up with a few of the most athletic pin prospects you have ever had coming in as well.  And a Win for the new staff as they get their big name recruit and their foundation for a few years and get her in year 1.  So they get off to the recruiting start they hoped for.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk fans, things are looking good.
