Chicoine and Cabello Earn AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Honors

University of Louisville outside hitter Chloe Chicoine and setter Nayelis Cabello were recognized on the national stage, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors as voted on by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

The recognition caps outstanding seasons for two of Louisville’s most impactful players. Both Chicoine and Cabello also earned AVCA All-South Region honors and were named to the 2025 All-ACC First Team.

Chicoine, the Cardinals’ on-court captain, delivered one of the most productive seasons of her collegiate career. She was named to the AVCA All-South Region Team and the Lincoln All-Regional Team, while also earning spots on the ACC All-Preseason Team and All-Cardinal Classic Team. She was selected to the AVCA Division I Player of the Year Watch List and helped guide Louisville deep into the NCAA Tournament.

Offensively, Chicoine reached the 1,000 career kills milestone and posted a career-high 28 kills against Marquette in the NCAA Tournament. She followed that performance with 26 kills, a .300 hitting percentage, eight digs, and three blocks in a five-set NCAA Regional Semifinal against Texas A&M. Over the course of the season, she recorded double-digit kills in 22 matches, including 17 contests with at least 12 kills, and totaled 10 double-doubles.

Chicoine’s all-around impact extended beyond the attack. She finished the season with a .953 reception percentage, ranking among the nation’s top receivers according to AvidVolleyball. She posted season-high dig totals of 23 at North Carolina and 17 against both SMU and Creighton, while recording at least one block in 22 matches. On the international stage, Chicoine earned gold with the U23 U.S. National Team at the NORCECA Pan American Cup.

Cabello anchored the Louisville offense with consistency and composure throughout the season. The sophomore earned AVCA All-South Region honors and was named ACC Setter of the Week four times. A team captain and ACC Setter of the Year candidate, she ranked second in the ACC and 26th nationally in assists per set.

Cabello recorded a career-high 62 assists against Marquette in the NCAA Tournament and posted additional standout performances with 53 assists versus Virginia and 52 against Illinois. She also contributed defensively, setting a career high with seven blocks against Texas. Under her direction, Louisville hit .250 or better in 20 matches, including season-high team performances of .430 against Virginia Tech, .336 versus Georgia Tech, and .304 at Stanford.

Over the course of the year, Cabello tallied 19 matches with 35 or more assists, eight double-doubles, and eight matches with double-digit digs. She added seven matches with two or more aces and showcased her offensive versatility, hitting .900 against Pitt and .538 versus Duke.

Together, Chicoine and Cabello were central to Louisville’s success during the 2025 season. Their AVCA Honorable Mention All-America selections reflect the consistency, production, and leadership they brought to the Cardinals and underscore their impact on the national volleyball stage.
