Blackshear Named to U19 National Training Team

Louisville freshman Kalyssa Blackshear has been named to the U19 U.S. Women’s National Training Team. The 6’5” standout will head to Colorado Springs from June 1–7, where she’ll train alongside the top junior players in the country.

Blackshear was selected as both a middle blocker and opposite hitter—highlighting her versatility and impact at the net. The 18-player training roster will be narrowed down to 12, with the final team set to represent the United States at the 2024 NORCECA Pan Am Cup.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Blackshear is expected to compete for the starting opposite role, likely going head-to-head with veteran Reese Robins for court time. While she played middle throughout her prep career, Louisville’s staff has been transitioning her to the right side, where her size and athleticism could add a new dimension to the Cards’ front-row attack.

Blackshear’s national team nod is a strong early signal that she’s one to watch—not just for Louisville, but on a global stage.
