'28 Camble Booth Q&A on Dream Team

A 5-11 opposite out of Colorado – Booth is one of the most explosive attackers I have ever seen. Despite being somewhat undersized, she bounces the ball as if she is her 6-7 older sister, Wisconsin's Carter Booth. She erupts into her approach and uses a strong arm swing to facilitate her jump, elevating to the peak of the ball before hammering it onto the open court. She is often fed quicker balls, able to beat the block entirely, but is able to hold her own when four-hands are up in front of her – either tooling or opting for a different shot. Camble plays with passion and it's evident in every move she makes on the court, adapting to the ebbs and flows of the game – sparking up her team in critical moments. As a freshman at Valor Christian High School, she contributed 49 kills and 11 blocks in their State Championship winning season – and had some kills at home that were definitely worthy of breaking out the "she's a freshman!” chant. Booth is an incredibly impressive athlete already, and she is only just at the beginning of honing her skills and embarking on her volleyball journey, and it’s crazy to imagine her with formal collegiate training. Last weekend, she got a taste of the collegiate experience at Nebraska Dream Team Camp, I asked her a few questions about this unique opportunity.

Q: What did you expect going into it, and did it meet or exceed those expectations?

A: I expected it to be a well run camp and similar to others I’ve been to with the difference being the caliber of talent present but was pleasantly surprised by its unique format and how they chose to run it like their practices. It gave me a great look into what it would be like to play at a high level and completely exceeded my expectations.

Q: Are there any current players you formed a relationship with, did you take anything away from their coaching?

A: All of the players were extremely gracious and welcoming. I loved getting to know Keri Leimbach and learning that you can be your bubbly, goofy, kind and authentic self while still being competitive.

Q: How did the culture and overall atmosphere resonate with you?

A: I loved witnessing all of the players' relationships with each other and seeing them connect not just as team mates but as best friends as well. A lot of people look at these legendary college teams and forget that they are people off the court but seeing them coach together and joke around showed me that winning doesn’t come from just being good on the court but developing relationships that motivate team mates to play for each other.
