'27 Kate Kalczynski Flips Commitment from Ohio State to Penn State

Another former Ohio State commit has made a change of plans. About a month after Ella Gravlee of Winter Park Volleyball Club announced her flip from Ohio State to Florida, Legacy Volleyball Club's Kate Kalczynski has also announced her path forward will no longer include the Buckeyes. Instead, the Silver-level outside hitter will be keeping her talents in the Big Ten by playing for Penn State.

Penn State is no doubt excited to have another outside hitter from Legacy, given it's the club that produced 2024 national champion Jess Mruzik. With explosive hitting in the front and back rows as well as disciplined all-around mechanics, Kalczynski has the potential to be a major contributor to the future of the Nittany Lions' offense. She already boasts an impressive resume consisting of several NTDP sessions, two AAU championships, and a third-place finish at the 2025 GJNC in the 16 Open division, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team. Kalczynski joins an already elite Penn State class alongside outside Olivia Henry, middle blocker Taylor Harrington, opposite Nejari Crooks, and setter Molly Robertson.
