Road to a College Home: Riley Riggs

Road to a College Home: Riley Riggs

Riley Riggs (PPV 212) has created an argument for herself to be number one in the Kansas state rankings. A six-rotation outside for Mill Valley High School and the prestigious Dynasty Volleyball Club; Rigg’s has an extensive college camp resume of over a dozen schools, including; USC, SMU, Creighton, Kansas, ASU, and more (check out the full list on her profile). A two-time Kansas 6A State Champion, Riley received all-state and all-league first team honors, tallying over 700 kills in two seasons with the Jaguars. She is everything you want in an all-around outside; impressive shot selection, strong serve and pass game, and an ability to score anywhere on the court. I asked the AVCA Phenom about how she is feeling as the commitment period opens, and how she will take on her own process.

Q: Do you have “dream school” in mind that you won’t hesitate to choose if they call, or are you planning on taking more time in your recruiting process?

AI'm taking my time to decide on my dream school, looking at some really good options, but I want to ensure it's the perfect fit for me, with a culture and coaches I'll truly love.

Q: How does it feel to take that next step into a new chapter of your life and make such a big decision? Is it overwhelming, anxious, or exciting?

A: I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to play volleyball at the highest level, but I also feel a bit overwhelmed. To stay positive, I remind myself that many people would love to be in my shoes, so I'm determined to make the most of it. It's a big decision, but I'm confident I'll find the perfect fit.

Q: What is your biggest personal goal for your college career, and what kind of environment do you see yourself thriving in?

A: As a freshman, my primary objective is to make a significant impact on the program and continually improve to potentially compete in a professional league after graduation. I envision myself excelling in a supportive and driven environment that shares my passion and commitment to achieving team goals.
