Road to a College Home: Olivia Henry

Road to a College Home: Olivia Henry

Olivia Henry (PPV 290) a 6-4 outside for IMG Academy, has established herself as one of the headline players of this stud 2027 class. Henry has caught the attention of top schools such as Penn State and Pitt with her tall frame, high-flying vertical, and whip of arm. An AVCA Phenom and regular attendee at NTDP; she is dominant at both the left pin and in the back row, an essential and reliable attacker. Olivia is an incredibly athletic and versatile player, in the 95th percentile for reach and jump touch in current Division 1 female volleyball players. She idolizes the lethality of Jess Mruzik’s game, and you can certainly see glimpses of the Final Four MVP in the young attacker. Her father was a former player on the Jamaican National Team, and she considers him her role model – owing much of her skill and success to his guidance. As June 15th nears, I asked Olivia about her mindset going into this transitional period, the feelings involved, and what she wants to take away from her collegiate career.

Q: Do you have “dream school” in mind that you won’t hesitate to choose if they call, or are you planning on taking more time in your recruiting process?

A: I definitely plan on taking more time in my recruiting process. It is a big decision and there are a lot of factors that need to be considered. I want to make sure the school I choose is right for me and convenient for my family.

Q: How does it feel to take that next step into a new chapter of your life and make such a big decision? Is it overwhelming, anxious, or exciting?

A: It definitely makes me so nervous but I'm also excited to see where I end up. There are a lot of mixed emotions – but overall I'm so excited to pick the right school for me!

Q: What is your biggest personal goal for your college career, and what kind of environment do you see yourself thriving in?

A: My biggest personal goal is to make a change in a program. I want to leave a mark on whatever school I go to. Inspiring younger girls that will eventually be in my shoes. I see myself thriving in a loud environment and being at a school that has a great support staff.
