Changing the Map Pt. 2: 2029 Prospects Bringing Attention to Their States

Volleyball talent can be found far beyond the states that traditionally dominate the sport. The Class of 2029 features a growing group of prospects from less-recognized volleyball states who are making their presence known and putting their home states on the recruiting map. In this feature, we spotlight several of those athletes and the impact they are already making as they continue to develop and gain national attention.

Lela Campos: Elite Orange level setter- NPJ Salem 16 National

Lela Campos is emerging as a standout setter from Oregon with an impressive early resume. During her freshman season at Crescent Valley High School, she earned First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-State honors. Campos has also earned an invitation to UA Next Camp, giving her an opportunity to compete alongside other rising prospects. At the club level, she helped her team reach USAV Nationals to close out the season. With strong high school recognition and growing national exposure, Campos is continuing to put Oregon talent on the recruiting map.

Avery Lane: Green level OH- Northern Lights 15-2

Avery Lane brings a strong combination of athleticism and power to the outside hitter position. The Minnesota prospect has gained additional experience through showcases and clinics while competing against a variety of talent. Lane took the court at both AAU Nationals and USAV Nationals, giving her experience on two of the sport’s biggest stages. Her powerful swing and impressive vertical allow her to challenge defenses and make plays above the net. With that athletic foundation and national tournament experience, Lane has plenty of room to continue building her game.

Braylin Coacher: Green level setter- Paramount VBC 15-1 Nick

Braylin Coacher has already built an impressive resume as a setter in Virginia. During her freshman season at Woodbridge Senior High School, she earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-Cardinal District honors. Coacher has also attended college camps at Pitt, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi State, and other programs, gaining exposure to different collegiate environments. At the club level, she helped her team finish 23rd in the 15 Open Division at the 2026 GJNC. Her combination of early high school recognition and national club experience gives her a strong foundation as she continues to develop.

Margot Weibley: Green level libero/DS- Lionheart VBC 16-1 Premier

Margot Weibley brings plenty of energy and competitiveness to the back row for Lionheart VBC 16-1 Premier. The Massachusetts prospect has continued to expand her experience through clinics, showcases, and college camps at Yale, Virginia, and other programs. Her work outside of team training has also helped her sharpen her skills and develop as a defensive specialist. Weibley was named to the 2026 JVA Watchlist, adding recognition to a growing list of accomplishments. With her defensive mindset and active approach on the court, she has the tools to keep progressing at the next level.

Gretah Angle: Green level setter- MODE 16 National

Gretah Angle has already collected several notable accomplishments while competing as a setter out of Washington. She was named a 2025 AAU All-American and helped her team capture the 2025 AAU National Championship. Angle also earned Second Team All-State honors in Idaho’s 3A classification, highlighting her impact at the high school level. Her recruiting experience includes college camps at UCLA, Arizona State, Stanford, and other programs. With national championship experience and recognition across multiple levels, Angle continues to add to her resume and expand her exposure.

Vanna Wagner: Elite Orange level libero/DS- Powhatan Beach VBC

Vanna Wagner brings a versatile defensive game to the court as a libero and defensive specialist from Wyoming. She has gained experience at college camps including Nebraska, Notre Dame, and other programs, giving her exposure to different training environments. Wagner also competes in beach volleyball, adding another dimension to her development and skill set. Her beach experience included earning a bid to Nationals in the 14U division. The combination of indoor defensive work and beach competition gives Wagner a unique foundation as she continues to expand her game.

Maria Simoza: libero/DS- Delaware Juniors 16-1 Ace

Maria Simoza has already made an impact in the back row at St. George’s Technical High School. She was named JV Defensive MVP and served as a JV captain, while also earning Varsity Rookie of the Year honors. Simoza brings that same defensive focus to Delaware Juniors 16-1 Ace, where she continues to gain club experience. Her early recognition at the high school level points to a player with plenty of room to build on her game. Simoza’s combination of leadership and defensive ability gives her an intriguing path as she moves forward.
