Champions Challenge to Help Bring Media Spotlight to Top Prep Teams

Thursday, September 18th in Las Vegas, NV VBAdrenaline will combine with Bishop Gorman HS to take another step in developing a branch of our overall mission statement that is very important to us and that is the promotion and overall media promotion/growth of the sport of volleyball, specifically at the prep and college levels when we sponsor the Champions Challenge Doubleheader in Las Vegas.

The Champions Challenge will proceed the famous Durango Classic Prep Tourney (Sept. 19-20) that brings 64 of the top prep teams (mostly from the Western United States) to Las Vegas for an early season tournament.

Marymount, CA vs. Harrisburg, SD

Mater Dei, CA vs. Bishop Gorman, NV

Bishop Gorman, NV: Ayanna Watson, Trinity Thompson, Alaina Breitling

Last Year's Final Rankings According to MaxPreps:

Mater Dei ended the season #7 in the country, Harrisburg was #16 in the final poll

Marymount, CA was #33 in the USA and host Bishop Gorman came in #89th according the the Final MaxPreps poll.

Notes: Both Mater Dei and Marymount play in the extremely difficult CIF of California one of the nation's most competitive athletic divisions.

Harrisburg, SD comes into the season riding a 78 match win streak and the streak could be at 84 when the Tigers head to Vegas to face off with Marymount in September!  They have already set a South Dakota record for most consecutive matches won.

Winning 3 Consecutive Gatorade POY Awards is a very difficult feat.  Oddly enough two Champions Challenge participants have an opportunity to accomplish that this season:  Ayanna Watson (Bishop Gorman) and Gabi Zachariasen (Harrisburg) both have won back-to-back Gatorade POY awards.  ***Zachariasen replaced South Dakota's only other 3x Winner (Bergen Reilly).
