Select Camp Pulse-O-Meter: Programs That are HOT

Every year we get a feel for the pulse of recruiting for 2028 based on how our Player Profile Select Camp Updates are coming.

Here are the Programs that are HOT

TCU - The Big XII Horned Frogs had a great season a great Portal 1. 2028 recruits have taken notice and the talent level of prospect is up as far as who is RSVPing to Ft. Worth. This seems to be a program going in the right direction for sure.

Texas A+M - This shouldn’t be a huge surprise the Aggies are on top of the volleyball world right now and recruits want to be apart of it. This will be a great class for Coach Morrison the talent is lining up to head to College Station and be the next class to be part of this fast rising program. Seeing that National Championship Trophy won’t be a bad selling tool either.

Utah State - We have talked about Kevin Smith and his ability to recruit at his previous assistant spots, well it’s paying off early at his first head coaching gig as well. Utah State is drawing interest from several prospects with much higher PPV’s than they normally would have and they are getting some national level recruits that have to do with Coach Smith’s USA VB ties. Look for this to be an early and fast turnaround at Utah State.

BYU - New coach new attitude in Cougarland this summer. We have seen that Y logo on several updates the last month and know there are a couple of very large campers attending that haven’t reported yet as well. This could honestly be a Top 5 potential class for the Cougars.

Arizona State- Despite their low two year PPV score the Sun Devils continue to draw great talent to their summer camps. This is another deep class of talent coming to Tempe and it just feels like the Sun Devils are on the verge of a great class very soon. This camp feels deeper in high-end star power than last year.

Pitt/Louisville - We seemingly group them together in everything we write about so why not in the camp department also. Both programs hold a pre-June 15 select camp and both of them have theirs LOADED to the seams with elite talent this June. These have been the two most accurate recruiting programs in college vb the past ten years and the increased popularity in their camps reflects it. Some athletes will be on both rosters and some will be targeted by both rivals.

Creighton - The Bluejay program showed everyone that they have no problems hanging with the big dogs in the Portal Wars, landing Ayden Ames in January. It will be interesting to see if that move also signifies a shift in their recruiting targets come June? We mention quite often with the ’27 class that Brian Rosen had upped the talent at select camp last season and their targets were higher evaluated than ever before. Names are steadily updating with that beautiful shade of blue and Creighton logo on the website and the list looks very promising again. What is even more impressive is some of the elite athletes that are coming to Creighton early and really loving their camp experience, but maybe going on to a Top 5 program. That sets the Jays up well for those athletes when they look to transfer later on. Again this is a program that definitely isn’t going backwards at all.

Kansas - Coach Ulmer in his first FULL season in Lawrence has his program fully in place now and is settled in. He is one of the classiest to do it in the business and another who builds the right way. Last year was a year of chaos with the relocation and staff movement, class movement, etc., but he is building with a solid young and talented core. None of his classes at Oregon were flashy or gained a ton of attention nationally (we ranked his final class higher than anyone), but they brought in quality character athletes with high potential and talent.

Looking at who is camping in Lawrence that is the model they are sticking with again and I personally really like many of the campers locker room fits/character types first and obviously the Jayhawks are going to be a Top 15 type program annually so there is talent attending as well. I don’t think it will ever be about large, highly ranked classes with Ulmer at KU, but more about winning a couple of key battles for the right pin/middle here and there. But, the athletes are showing up and that is step one.

UCLA - This is a big opportunity in Westwood this Summer. New HC Matt Werle’s first camp season and the Bruins had a great class last season. Camps haven’t been the Bruins problem, assistant coach Stevi Robinson-Trail is one of the best recruiters out there and her NTDP ties have helped, plus it is UCLA. This year seems different, because Werle’s Bruins are truly trying to commit to their commits and not live in the portal anymore so our sense has been even more pro-UCLA than in the past, plus they are the LA school with the most momentum right now and in rivalries it is important to take advantage of that while you can.

Clemson - I’ve mentioned it a few times that I really like what is going on recruiting wise at Clemson. Coach Jackie Simpson Kirr and staff had an amazing class last year and other athletes (especially in the Southeast Region) noticed because we have seen plenty of those orange crush paw logos w/ the touch of purple outline added to our website the past few months. Now listen it is hard to climb and build and compete in the ACC (especially with what a certain school is doing), but they are improving and I like their facilities. They are following the Pitt/Lville model of 9 years ago…aim just above your Prestige Level and target them early. Keep watching for Clemson during Camp Week.

**If you have prospects that you know are attending please have them complete the form on our website and we will get those updated on theirs and your teams profiles ASAP. Thanks everyone.
