Create a Player ProfileOne BIG difference already with DBK...Media Accessibility and you want to know why?

All off-season there have been questions "What is going to change?" "What traditions will Dani keep?" "Will there still be a beach program? Will the staff be the same?" Well one thing that has been a welcome and an immediate and noticeable difference in Week 1 of Husker Camp....way more Media Access! For a site that works remote we have loved seeing sites like Hail Varisty (Photo Cred) and Hurdat Sports reporting almost daily from Husker practices with updates and interviews giving the country access to the most famous program in America. You truly feel like you know this team and you have a sense for what is going on each day in DBK's gym. Now do I expect that to continue all season long NO, but I do expect there to be days where there will be media access all season and players will be available for interviews and cameras will be allowed into practice YES. This program is going to be much more open.
This helps for multiple reasons and I heard a couple of reporters touch on this during reports for other outlets earlier today. While no one will truly go deep enough into from a volleyball perspective on why it is important to potential recruits and how it has impacted Nebraska in the recent past, larger roster size does allow everyone to get reps and that IS a big deal and it might have cost Nebraska a Natty last season.
Whether validated or not a large change in the program with the coaching change is DBK's philosophy of carrying a larger roster. Now to the normal fan (like me for the longest time) this probably doesn't mean much "oh you keep a couple more kids big deal", but it's way more than that it's about TRAINING and who gets on the court and how often (and who is taking those reps if it's not female athletes).
So Dani coming in with her philosophy of everyone training and everyone developing and inviting the media in to cover the state's team is a great PR Move and it also opens the program to top recruits in Cali and Texas who can check things out nightly. Rarely do you see coaches invite more media in, but this is a great move in Week 1.
