Louisville Volleyball Continues to Prioritize Local Talent

The foundation of Louisville women's volleyball has long been built on more than just skill—it’s been shaped by a strong connection to the community. Over the past several years, that connection has been especially evident through the program’s commitment to recruiting and developing local talent. And as the team looks to the future, that trend is showing no signs of slowing down.

Two new additions are helping keep the local pipeline strong:

Addison Makun, a Silver Creek High School graduate and standout middle blocker for KIVA Volleyball Academy, and Amirra Bailey, a rising 2026 middle blocker from Bowling Green High School. Both athletes bring high-level physicality at the net and represent the next generation of Kentucky and Southern Indiana volleyball standouts.

Makun and Bailey aren’t just poised to make an impact on the court—they also reflect the program’s deeper mission of building a team that feels like home. From youth clinics and community events to fan interactions, Louisville players have always played a visible role in the local scene. Having homegrown talent on the roster keeps that connection strong and personal.

As the Cards continue to grow into a national powerhouse, their ability to blend elite performance with community roots remains a defining piece of the program's identity. With Makun and Bailey in the mix, the future looks bright—and distinctly local.
