Create a Player ProfileIn The Mood For Some Big Time Volleyball

We still have a little while longer until the full 2025 schedule is announced for Texas Volleyball, but another domino has fallen for what the season will look like: Texas will play its first ever match in the Moody Center next season when it hosts the Stanford Cardinal on Sunday, September 7th. The 10,000-seat arena is home to Texas' men's and women's basketball teams, allowing for an audience much larger than Gregory gym's 4,400-seat capacity.
This decision is in line with the explosion of women's volleyball as the sport continues to set attendance and TV viewership records year after year. Frankly, it's overdue. Pack Moody.
When asked about why this decision was made, Jerritt Elliott said "We've been continually selling out, it's been the fastest growing game in the country. I mean, I think the demand for it meets it and there's a lot of excitement obviously, behind our program and the growth of it, and playing a premier team in the Moody Center is an incredible opportunity for our fans and for our players. I think where the sport is growing, you're gonna start seeing a lot more college teams competing in bigger arenas. I think it's important for that to happen for revenue generating, for fan attendance, for popularity, and for the growth of the game."
Additionally, freshman Taylor Harvey's older sister, Jordyn Harvey, is a starting OPP for Stanford. The big-time matchup will reunite the sisters on the Forty Acres.
For now, this is the only game planned to be played in the Moody Center this season. There are no more guaranteed games in the arena long term, but Coach Elliott says he hopes to have "one or two [games] a year" in Moody Center going forward, presumably the biggest non-conference matches.
