Create a Player ProfileHarper Stuns for Mental Health Campaign Photoshoot

One year ago today, Harper Murray was arrested and charged with a DUI. At the time, lingering questions overwhelmed the entire fanbase, and many doubted she would even play for the team again. Turns out a lot can change in 365 days, and Harper is a tangible testament to that. Not only was she the team's leading scorer last season, as well as a second team all-american, but her smiles are wider and her glow is brighter. It looks like a heavy weight has been lifted off her shoulders, and that she has finally allowed herself to blossom after hiding away from the sun.
Now, she's expanding her platform – adding “model” to her already padded resume. This week, she participated in a shoot alongside Kami Buchanan (2024 Miss Nebraska), emphasizing their shared experience as biracial women breaking barriers in underrepresented spaces. Buchanan’s campaign, titled “I Chose Me,” is about reminding others of their strength, resilience, and worth, and championing mental health in an industry where it is so often stigmatized. “I believe women can achieve anything without changing who they are,” Kami says. “I Choose Me" is a bold declaration: our power comes from within. We are already enough.” She also shouts out the state of Nebraska, and the impact it has had for both of their careers; “your support drives everything that we do.”
It’s obvious why Harper was the perfect candidate to collaborate with, she has been incredibly public about her mental health journey, documenting her story online, speaking at events, and reminding young girls and athletes that social media is not always as it seems, and it's okay to not always be okay. With her platform of almost 500,000 on Tiktok and influence as one of the most popular collegiate athletes, she has exposed a new generation to – and thus normalized – struggling with depression and anxiety; while also showing the reality and ramifications of cyberbullying. Her story could have ended a year ago today, but instead it only began; she is physical proof that it gets better.
