'28 Madlen Gloessner Feels Right at Home in Lincoln

A 6-3 middle hailing from Lakewood, Colorado and an all-state prospect that has gained national attention – Madlen’s pure athleticism makes her an instant standout on the court. She has been playing club volleyball since the ripe age of seven years old, and was a key player for her Front Range 16 National team this past club season. Even on a team of talented athletes, her ability to bounce balls is something you don’t often see from someone so young. She is long and dynamic, and her presence at the net both offensively and defensively can’t go understated. In her freshman season at Lakewood High School, Madlen was a starting middle on varsity, where she averaged 3 kills per set on a 49% kill percentage, adding 97 total blocks (1.3 per set). She has already gathered an extensive list of college camps; including, Penn State, Pitt, USC, Louisville, UCLA, and – most recently – Nebraska. Madlen entered Dream Team camp with high expectations, but was excited to find that the experience exceeded them. “I was so excited going into camp, I had heard from so many people that it was the camp to be at so when I got the invite I immediately told my parents I had to go.”

She already had a connection to the program, though, with fellow Coloradoan middle, Andi Jackson. “I have known Andi for six months now and we have a good relationship. She was such an awesome coach for me at camp!” For Husker fans, you may find Madlen’s game reminiscent of a young Jackson’s, bursting with raw potential. The swiftness and lethality of her slide attack is shockingly similar, and there's a real possibility that Gloessner’s ceiling as an athlete is just as high as Andi’s. She also bonded with freshman Keri Leimbach and Teraya “TT” Sigler; “both are the sweetest girls and best coaches.” While the camp certainly placed an emphasis on physical ability, Madlen found herself soaking in some mental advice as well to help facilitate her game at the next level. “One thing I took away was that it’s okay to make mistakes but the biggest thing is how you come back from an error!” From campus to culture and everything in between, Madlen absolutely loved it at Nebraska. “The school felt perfect for me and I’m so grateful I got to experience camp!”
