Creighton Camp #2: Ones to Watch

Ones to Watch: Creighton Camp #2
This weekend, Creighton will host their second camp of the summer with many exciting prospects coming to show off their skills. Let’s break down a few exciting players who will hopefully be in attendance this weekend.
Josalyn Samuels: Coming from Kairos Elite (the same club as new recruit Ruthie Robinson) Samuels is a 6’1 setter out of South Dakota. What excites me about Samuels is her aggressive nature even as a setter. Creighton is known to have strong players at the next, such as running a 5-1 with setter Kendra Wait. Josalyn would be a very exciting addition to the Bluejay team.
Julia Masselink: Another Kairos Elite player out of the class of 2029, a 6’1 outside hitter. Masselink has an impressive camp resume playing at Nebraska, Mizzou, and Creighton. Masselink has a great, strong down the line shot in addition to an impressive back row attack which Creighton has been known to use from time to time. Another exciting player to keep your eye on.
Lexi Coleman: Coming from White Lake, MI and Legacy Volleyball Club, Coleman is another 2029 prospect. At six feet, Coleman is another impressive outside hitter but also has been known to make great defensive plays. A strong hitter plus a solid defender could be just what Creighton needs to continue to keep their well-rounded team legacy.
Rilynn Wingenbach: A 6’4 middle out of Union, MO Wingenbach is another 2028 standout. Her height is what stands out to me the most. At only 15, Rilynn is already 6’4 and can put the ball away with any shot. Her height allows her to hit over the block and also play exceptional defense.
Adelyn Buttrum: Another strong defensive player and outside hitter, Buttrum comes from O’Fallon, MO and is a top contender in the class of 2028. Always having a great read on the ball is Adelyn’s strength. Whether it is reading a hitter or surveying the court for open shots, Buttrum has a high volleyball IQ and can put the ball away.
In addition, the three newest 2027 recruits will be in attendance at camp which will be their first official even as committed Bluejays. It will be exciting to see how they gel with the current players.
These are just a few players that have stood out so far, there will be more additions to the ones to watch list coming tomorrow!
