The Athletic does profile on Nebraska star Nkem Ogbechie

Nebraska volleyball is in the spotlight again, this time, they focus their attention on Nkem Ogbechie.

Ogechie, who was born in West Africa, had an interesting journey to Lincoln as profiled by The Athletic.

Ogechie comes from a family of athletes. Both her grandparents were accomplished athletes and successful in academics as well. Her grandfather is a doctor and her grandmother is a scientist.

Ogbechie, a freshman, brings a lot of energy to the program, as well as to her coach and teammates.

“One word: insane,” senior Rebekah Allick said. “She’s going to be absolutely insane.”

Ogbechie’s .529 hitting efficiency leads all Big Ten players with 70 or more swings this season. Her kills per set (2.56) and blocks per set (1.38) top the group of Nebraska middle blockers.

It’s just a matter of time before Ogbechie adds to her legacy at Nebraska, and her name be added to the long list of Huskers stars who’ve made a huge impact over the years.
