Nebraska’s Harper Murray hopes to have a happy homecoming vs Spartans and Wolverines

Nebraska’s Harper Murray hopes to have a happy homecoming vs Spartans and Wolverines

Nebraska tries to go for the sweep of the state of Michigan when they face the Michigan State Spartans on Friday night.

The Spartans just came off a sweep of the Indiana Hoosiers, giving the Hoosiers their first loss of the season.

This is a homecoming of sorts for Cornhusker outside hitter Harper Murray, who is from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Sports Illustrated recently said in an article that she may be the best outside hitter in the country; they aren’t wrong.

She’s been on a tear recently,  28 kills and just one error over two matches last week, which jumped her kill percentage up to 44.2 percent. Because of her performance, she garnered Big Ten Co-Player of the Week honors and is one of the front-runners for Big Ten Player of the Year and being named first-team AVCA All-American.

Now she gets to play in front of her friends and family back home in Michigan to complete the sweep of both the Spartans and the hometown Michigan Wolverines.

Coming out of high school, Murray was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year and Michigan Volleyball Player of the Year in 2022. She was also named the No. 1 overall recruit for that year by Prepvolleyball.com

So you know there will be some hard feelings going into those matches, especially by Michigan fans who thought Murray should have stayed home and helped the home team.

You have to believe getting the chance to play in front of her friends and family is going to bring out nothing but the best in Murray, and that has to be a scary thought for two teams looking to make their mark against the No. 1 team in the country.
