Louisville Stays Perfect in ACC Play as Chicoine Hits 1,000 Career Kills

The No. 4 Louisville Cardinals continued their dominant run through the ACC with a sweep over Virginia Tech on Sunday, winning 25 11, 25 12, 25 17 inside L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
Junior outside hitter Chloe Chicoine reached a major career milestone in the victory, recording her 1,000th career kill early in the third set. Chicoine led the Cardinals with 11 kills and seven digs, showcasing the same poise and power that have made her one of the nation’s premier attackers.
Louisville’s offense was firing on all cylinders, hitting a season-best .430 as a team and matching its season high with 10 service aces. Sophomore Kalyssa Blackshear continued her breakout stretch on the right side with 10 kills and five blocks, while middle blockers Hannah Sherman and Cara Cresse combined for 10 blocks and eight kills. Cresse finished a perfect 5 for 5 on swings.
Setter Nayelis Cabello directed the attack with efficiency, spreading the ball across all rotations while serving pressure points that helped the Cards open the match on an 8 1 run. Virginia Tech struggled to find rhythm, hitting just .172 for the match.
With the win, Louisville improved to 13 2 overall and 5 0 in ACC play, maintaining its unblemished conference record and continuing to look every bit like a national contender.
For Chicoine, the night marked a milestone achievement — 1,000 kills down, and plenty more ahead.
