Inside the Staff: Coaching Roles for Louisville Volleyball Heading Into 2025

As summer workouts ramp up and the Louisville volleyball program sets its sights on another competitive season, now is the perfect time to take a closer look at how the coaching staff is shaping up for 2025. With a few role adjustments and fresh energy in the gym, the Cardinals are fine-tuning their system and leadership approach heading into the fall.

Dan Meske Shifts Roles, Takes Over Setting Training

The biggest change this offseason comes at the top. Head coach Dan Meske is stepping into a more hands-on role by taking over setting training. This move allows him to directly influence the offensive rhythm and tempo. Interestingly, longtime assistant Coach Meske, known for his defensive expertise, will now contribute more to offensive strategy. His experience reading opposing offenses could give Louisville a unique edge by helping design systems that are tough to defend. One shift to watch: a possible move toward a 5-1 offensive system.

Todd Chamberlain Maintains Core Responsibilities

Associate Head Coach Todd Chamberlain enters his eighth season at Louisville and continues to be the steady hand in several key areas. He remains the program’s recruiting coordinator and will lead the training of outside hitters and primary passers. In-game, he’s responsible for calling serving zones—a small but strategic detail that plays a big role in disrupting opponents’ offensive flow. Chamberlain’s consistency and leadership continue to anchor Louisville’s frontcourt and serve-receive systems.

CC McGraw Anchors the Back Row

Assistant Coach CC McGraw will once again lead the back-row unit, working closely with the team’s liberos and defensive specialists. She’ll oversee the entire backcourt defensive system, ensuring precise positioning, strong communication, and high-level execution. Her role is vital to maintaining the Cardinals’ defensive discipline and passing consistency.

Newcomer Parker Mikesch Adds Defensive Firepower

Louisville’s newest staff member, Assistant Coach Parker Mikesch, arrives ready to make an impact. He’ll take over the responsibilities previously held by Coach Meske, including organizing the block and leading opponent scouting efforts. Mikesch will also train the team’s middle blockers, working to refine timing, discipline, and defensive presence at the net. His scouting and blocking expertise add another layer of strength to the Cards’ weekly game prep.

With a blend of returning leadership and new voices, the Cardinals are poised to evolve both tactically and culturally. As the 2025 season approaches, expect sharper systems, continued intensity, and the same relentless mindset that defines Louisville volleyball.
