Incoming Impact: Louisville Volleyball Class of 2025 – Early Role Projections

With summer workouts underway and fall camp on the horizon, the Louisville Cardinals are already seeing flashes of potential from the Class of 2025. Two freshmen are already on campus, giving the Cards a head start as they reload and retool for the coming season. Here’s a look at what each newcomer could bring—and where they might fit.

Kalyssa Blackshear (6'5" RS)

Originally a dominant middle blocker, Blackshear is transitioning to the right side at Louisville. Her size and blocking presence make her a real contender to compete with Reese Robins for a starting role. Even if she doesn’t win the starting job outright, she could carve out a front-row dub-sub role for physicality and net presence.

Hannah Kenny (5'7" S)

A technically sound setter with a strong court sense, Kenny is expected to shift into a defensive role. While she’s in the conversation for libero, her most likely path to early playing time looks like a three-rotation DS, especially paired with the right sides.

Addison Makun (6'3" MB)

An explosive athlete and powerful blocker, Makun brings elite verticality and physicality to the net. She’ll compete with Hannah Sherman for the M2 spot, giving the Cards depth and options in the middle.

Chloe Meester (6'3" OH)

One of the most intriguing additions, Meester enters with a big arm, physical style, and a reputation for six-rotation potential. Louisville’s roster doesn’t have many lefts with her combination of power and size. If she adapts quickly, she could push for court time—but she’ll have to battle experienced returners with proven production.

Already on Campus

Both Blackshear and Kenny have arrived early, which gives them valuable reps and a smoother transition ahead of preseason. Their presence this summer sets the tone for what could be one of Louisville’s most impactful freshman classes yet.
