A pair of seniors stand out for the Creighton Bluejays

The undefeated Creighton Bluejays (11-5, 4-0) have been on a roll of late, going into their match this weekend against the Georgetown Hoyas.

They are led by a pair of seniors, outside hitter Ava Martin, who recently won Big East Player of the Week, and senior middle blocker Kiara Reinhard, who also won Player of the Week honors because of her defensive play.

Martin averages a league-leading 5.93 points and 4.86 kills per set on .435 hitting. Before the season began, she was named BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year, averaging 2.43 digs, 0.86 aces, and 0.43 blocks per set. Against the Marquette and the DePaul Blue Demons, Martin contributed 20 kills, seven digs, and two blocks on .514 hitting, and she logged 14 kills and 10 digs with a season-best six service aces, respectively.

Her teammate Reinhard had a strong week herself. She averaged 2.86 kills, 1.29 blocks, and 1.00 assists, which is a league-best. She also has a .643 hitting percentage. She hit .500 with six kills, four assists, and a match-best four blocks against Marquette. At DePaul, Reinhardt registered a match-best five blocks with 14 kills and three assists on a massive .722 hitting.

Both players are well on their way this season to perhaps winning Big East Player of the Year.
