2025 Husker Alumni Match Thoughts & Predictions

In true Husker fashion the pre-season match versus the Alumni is completely sold out. The Bob Devaney Center will be absolutely PACKED on August 9th for the Alumni exhibition match. Along with getting a preview of the 2025 Huskers, there will be some big time alumni talent in the house. I think fans can expect to see quite a few different lineups from DBK and the 2025 squad. Pre-season practices will have only been going on for about a week, so I'm not sure a set lineup will be in place quite yet.

It will be fun to see Jordan Larson beat up on some of the young talent. “The Gov” will be leading the charge for the Alumni along with Lauren Stivrins, Kelly Hunter, Ally Batenhorst, Lindsay Krause, Kenzie Maloney and quite a few more. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the different generations of Husker volleyball play together on one court. I'm sure the fans are excited to see Ally B back in Husker red as well.

I'm actually predicting this to be a pretty good game. I think the alums will give the team a run for their money. I don't know how many sets the group will play but here are a few predictions/ matchups i'm excited to see:

Strivins VS Jackson in the middle: Lauren Stivrins is known for her tempo slide and just overall domination in the front row… but now so is Andi Jackson. I am really looking forward to seeing how the two match up against each other and if Andi can go off like she usually does even against Stivrins who she's been compared to the last two seasons.

The right side battle will continue for the current roster. I'm sure we will see a combination of a couple different options throughout the scrimmage. But I think the ability to play when the lights are on will set some people apart. I think that this match could have some big implication in the starting lineup for match one at the end of August. My personal prediction is that freshman Ryan Hunter is going to rise to the occasion and really show her strength in this pre-season match… but I guess we'll see (I haven't seen Virginia Adriano play yet).

Ally B vs Harper: the two friends playing against each other is BOUND to be fun. I can't wait to see them go at each other through the net. I'm positive there will be some friendly trash talking going on. I just wish one of them was on the right side and one on the OH so we could see them actually go against each other a bit more. Either way, this matchup will be fun.

Finally some predictions on the score of the game. I'm not sure how many sets they will play and if it will be a full game so I'll give some score predictions for the first 3 sets they play. I'm taking the young kids in this one.

They will have just completed their first full week of pre season practice and I'm sure they will have fine tuned quite a bit at this point. BUT, Kelly Hunter is in the gym and knows all their secrets, so I'm sure she will help keep the game competitive… that along with the absolute STACKED roster of legends playing. Excited to see!
